Our Story

Dynamically Different Dumfries is a community led vision and action plan for Dumfries Town Centre. Its development was led by a unique collaboration of Dumfries based businesses, community organisations and social enterprises who want to make things happen in Dumfries and to challenge the status quo.

They worked closely with Planning Aid Scotland (PAS) to ensure our plan is shaped by our community. Dumfries and Galloway Council who commissioned PAS actively supported the process through Dumfries Partnership Action Group (DPAG).

Our Vision

Our Vision is of a Dynamically Different Dumfries, where a wealth of history meets a bright sustainable future. A welcoming place with a vibrant, and connected low carbon town centre, which celebrates its rich heritage, arts, culture and diversity.

What Happens Next?

Volunteers are being sought to take part in a new organisation to help coordinate the delivery of the recently approved Action Plan for the town titled “Dynamically Different Dumfries (DDD)”.

Dumfries Partnership Action Group, a new Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) has now been fully approved and involves a two-stage process, the first step being a call for interested individuals to register as ordinary members of the SCIO. An inaugural AGM was held on 17th August 2022, where the members elected a board of trustees to the SCIO, who will have a hands-on role in coordinating the delivery of the action plan.

A spokesperson for the Dumfries Partnership Action Group that helped drive the initial local engagement process that led to the Action Plan said:

“This is a great opportunity for those who care about the future of Dumfries to step forward and really help deliver for the town. The Dynamically Different Dumfries document is unique in that it details the ideas, priorities and hopes of the people and businesses of the town rather than the views of local agencies or consultants. Those coming forward will be helping deliver what the people of the town have asked for.”
